How Tall Should Your Chain Link Fence Be?
Height is the first choice that changes the price and the feel of the fence.
4 ft
The most common residential height.
It works for small and medium dogs, kids' play areas and marking a property line.
5 ft and 6 ft
A good fit for large dogs that jump, and for side yards where you want more security.
Taller commercial heights
Businesses, equipment yards and public sites often go taller.

Check your HOA rules before you pick a height. Many neighborhoods have limits.
Galvanized vs. Black or Green Coated
- Galvanized is the classic silver finish. It is the lowest-cost option and a true workhorse.
- Vinyl-coated black or green blends into the yard and looks more finished. The coating also adds a layer of protection in our humid, salty air.
On average, galvanized chain link lasts about 20 years in the Panama City climate.
